Summer is usually pretty warm in OZ. So, if you are not used to 90-100 degree temps then I would recommend spring (October-November) or fall (March-April). New Zealand is perfect in summer.

Fares to Far East?? I thought you wanted to fly to Down Under and not Japan. Try www.qantas.com or www.united.com or www.airnewzealand.com. They have plenty of special fares. If this fails then go for various web-based consolidators.
