And nope...most ATM's have a fee of some sort..even for Aussie cards. But compared to the commission charged by some money exchange places..the fee is minute.

I'm not sure nickels and dimes are really made of the same metal. As far as I can recall, dimes used to be made of silver and are now a sort of sandwich with three layers. Nickels, I think, are still one layer and made of ... nickel. Someone in the US would have to confirm all this. My memory may be wrong.

ATM's in Australia do not charge fees for withdrawals using foreign cards. At least not explicit fees along the lines of ATM's in the USA. There may be a built-in commission, but it is not immediately noticeable.
