Unfortunately, our federal government has allowed airlines to consolidate to a point where there is extremely minimal competition. Airlines are now making record profits, but customers are left with inferior products. So, at this point, they simply don't care, as profit is all that seems to matter. For some people/companies, profit is life and customer satisfaction is irrelevant. In most industries, customer satisfaction is directly tied to profit, but with the oligopoly that has been set up for airlines, unfortunately, it is not.
