Avios provide relatively poor value for domestic itineraries that require a connection. Even the shortest AA/AS flights now require 7,500 Avios per flight in Coach; if a connection is required, you're looking at at least 15,000 Avios one way. (If you can find a through-flight that operates SBA-PHX-SLC, that would cost just 7,500 Avios each way.)
