Makes you wonder why Qantas Link, can't let you pre-select seats on there Q300/Q400 services? If Jetstar can, NZ does on its Q300/72-500/600s.
Could it be that aircraft of different sizes are regularly substituted for each other ? If so then it makes advance seating more aspirational than reality. Indeed, during the FT GM Q Catering tour, our guide emphasised how difficult it was to cater QLD QantasLink flights because of their habit of subbing different sized aircraft and the associated requirement for more or less catering - at short notice.
