I have seen some AA customers get PreCheck (LLL) boarding passes 100% of the time when using their KTN from GE, even as their names in the passports, their names in the AAdvantage accounts and their names on the tickets are not all an exact match in every way.

I've seen AA change the names on some AAdvantage accounts without requiring any government ID or official name change documentation submission to do the changes -- sometimes even in the absence of the customer requesting such change. Getting AAdvantge customer service to do the account name update when you want over the phone or via fax shouldn't be too difficult for a typo or two when the change is deliberately requested. It just requires contacting them by whichever communication channel they accept for such changes.
