I was checking the prices through AVIS site for a signature series car from JFK for June and find it very difficult to follow the logic.

BMW X5 or similar
-Pay at counter shows LDW and ALI INCLUDED and Surcharges and taxes at 0.
-Pay now has lower base rate, but LDW, ALI and taxes added and calculated on top of the base, making the estimated total higher than pay at counter.

BMW 528 or similar
-Both pay now and Pay at counter calculate LDW, ALI and tax on top of the base rate.

Mercedes E350 or similar
-Both pay now and Pay at counter have LDW and ALI INCLUDED and taxes at 0.

I'm booking from Europe. My previous rentals in US were with Hertz and the basic insurances and tax are always shown in total.

If I make a reservation with Avis that shows tax at 0 and insurances included, can I be sure the estimated total is what I actually pay without any surprises during rental?
