There are also some who confuse loyalty with value.

For several years I was gold with BA, mainly due to a monthly commute to South Africa then a weekly commute into Europe. Since travel pattern was predictable I always booked in advance with the lowest fares and whilst at the time I was loyal to BA I certainly wouldn't have considered myself a high value customer.

To this day I still think BA would be better off focusing on people who are genuinely high value rather than those who travel a lot.
