simonspear, I tend to agree. But...
I will readily accept that BA had many constraints to face during the move to LGW(S), of which the temporary Lounge facility is just one aspect. However, within the overall project [move to S, other airlines involved, etc.] I'm not sure what BA could have done, realistically, to prevent this situation. The entire Project Management of the shift of a major carrier from N to S will have innumerable critical paths, and the continued provision of Lounge access to pax must surely be a minor item in the overall picture?
BA pax have given us 'something', inadequate though we find it. What else could BA have done? Where is there an alternative option, that actually fits into this enormous program, building limitations, budgets?
I'm not saying it couldn't possibly have been done better, but do please consider all the other factors that BA are trying to manage. I'm talking check-in, bag-drop, new S Lounge[s], a totally new method of operating at new stands and new gates, baggage management/handling ... and that's only a small fraction of what BA are having to do.
Our 'petty grievances' pale into insignificance in that big picture, and I'm very glad I'm not responsible for completing the jigsaw on schedule.
