Doc, I like your point about insight, but I have no intention of reducing my posts in other forums.
Y'all are going to have to take our word for it-- it is just a desire for a forum we can call home. Something relatively safe wherein issues (and no, I'm not referring to anything of a sexual, profane or otherwise tawdry nature) that concern gay and lesbian travelers can be discussed without becoming diluted by other issues. Well, heck, I'm an idealist
Anyway, there's a phrase that comes to mind, and it may be Shakespeare's, but I'll misquote it nonetheless: "Methinks thou dost protest too much."
I guess what I'm saying is: if you're so disinterested in the creation _____ forum (just fill in the blank with gay and lesbian travel or whatever "faction" you please), why are you spending so much time trying to argue against it? I mean, I don't fly Southwest Airlines, nor do I stay at Marriott Hotels, and I'm not out there saying there isn't a need for their forums. I say live and let live.
Sure, we're talking apples and oranges. I mean an established hotel chain can't possibly compete with an established and lucrative travel market can it? OOps. Maybe we aren't talking apples and oranges.
Look, I for one am not interested in any further "bickering" over this issue. I brought it up because I felt it missing. I don't enjoy seeing the way this thread has gone, and honestly did not expect it. But, it's there.
May I humbly suggest we simply spend the next week or so encouraging other FTers to express their "vote" on this issue - in this forum - in very simple terms. How about
:
Pro (I support the creation of this forum)
or
Con (I do not support the creation of this forum)
Why don't we just let the responses make the call. We could probably debate this well into next year, and wouldn't get any closer to an answer.
Thanks guys.
The next post will be my vote.
Cheers
Kevin
