Resources and tips for travel-reward newbie?
Hi!
I am new to the world of travel rewards. I did a bit of research a few months ago and opened a Sapphire Chase preferred card a little over 1 month ago and have about 7,000 points and am on my way to getting the 50,000 point bonus.
I also opened up a rewards account through AirFrance but I don't have any points yet. I am planning on booking a flight in Europe for me, my husband, and our baby through AirFrance and the 7,000 points should help cover the cost of some of it. My trip abroad will help rack up points but eventually, I would like to be able to have my reward points cover the majority of airline costs. In a perfect world, I would be able to go to Europe once every 2-3 years with my husband and child and afford it on a middle class income. (I know, these are high goals!!). Putting $4,000 on a card in 3 months is a little on the higher end of what we spend...we are fairly frugal to be honest and we don't eat out a ton and we don't regularly travel a ton (but love vacations!!).
What tips or resources can you share with me that would be helpful in reaching these goals? I would love some resources about understanding all of the travel reward jargin as it seems like there is really a lot to learn!
Thank you and I apologize if this has been asked (a lot). I'm assuming that everyone's plan to accrue points is different based on finances and goals so it is pretty individual.
