I concede that there may have been ongoing lease negotiations but as one of the few full service airlines at Gatwick they should have done better by their customers. I feel a 20 minute wait for a very small and cold bacon roll and is below par. I was not saying BA are making a profit from this but have reduced costs most likely and any future lounge will seem a better outcome for BA and us travellers.

I'm still unclear what you feel BA could've done better and where they'd do it excactly.
It isn't just an issue of picking up the phone to Delta and asking the nice man if you can borrow his lounge for a bit whilst your new one is getting a lick of paint.
As is noted above, No. 1 may well have already had a longstanding option on the Delta space. BA is doing their best in a difficult situation.
However, I think offering even a glass of champagne to GCHs/F pax would be a welcome gesture and this is the one aspect where I feel BA is rightly due some stick for not having done something that they could very easily do. Someone clearly decided that the cost of getting No.1 to supply champagne outweighed the complaints BA would receive from X% of passengers for not having champagne in the lounge. In my view that decision was wrong.
