I have not stayed at Blantyre but I have stayed at Wheatleigh and was underwhelmed: unremarkable service, unremarkable food, and sterile interiors that lacked charm. I thought it was one of the most overpriced hotels I have ever experienced. The grounds are also uninteresting, and the pool was unappealing.

I am a big Wharton and Dickinson fan, so your trip sounds terrific. I was at the Mount last year and thought it was terrific. You can book ahead for a fee and have a private tour with time in her personal library, with the curator showing you her books, if you are interested.
