Madrid connection question
I have a trip scheduled, in June. from USA to Madrid to Israel. AA to Madrid, El Al to Israel. I am trying to figure out, due to connection times, if I have to clear customs/immigration, and/or security. I have come to understand that El Al has their own security, that everyone must go through. However, the tighter connection for me is the return. On El Al to Madrid, then have approximately 30 minute connection for the AA flight. According to the Iberia and Madrid Airport websites, it says that I shouldn't have to clear customs/immigration as we're not connecting from/to a destination in the "shengen" area. However, it doesn't mention if we will be required to clear security.
If anyone has experience with this, or knows the situation better, your input would be greatly appreciated.
Edit: I did find the madrid connection page, but nothing specifically referencing El Al that I could find, so that's why I've posted here. Mods feel free to merge if desired.
