It has been several years since I have been to St Kitts,but I have returned to Aruba several times-mostly because there are more flight options and several Marriott hotel options,which makes redeeming points a bit easier.
St Kitts is less commercialized(at least when I was there), than Aruba and has the advantage of access to the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea.
Aruba has many more dining options,many of which are walkable from the hotels.
I found the beach on the properties in Aruba to be superior to St Kitts,which was so windy when I was there,that we could not use the beach comfortably-but that may have been a seasonal issue or a fluke.
As you point out, the decision may be made for you ,based on availability of hotels and flights-either one is a good beach vacation choice
