I have to agree. I can't justify more than 1 big, long, outside the US trip every 12-18 months right now, and for various personal reasons, turning credit cards/MS into miles also isn't an option. So it's slow accumulation with travel (mostly to AS) or dining programs/rental car bonuses and the like (WN, AA, UA, BA) or occasional outright mileage purchase in programs where it might make sense (AA, AS, AV, SPG). (Lately it hasn't made much sense.)

Fortunately if you're only slowly trickling the miles in, losing some possibilities of future value to devaluation doesn't hurt so badly.
