If on a US/Canadian passport or GS/Nexus 1.5h should be enough, I know people who have made it plenty of times with closer to an hour. That's with hand luggage only though.
On another passport... YMMV and if you have luggage that has to go through US customs with you which would put you at risk in my opinion.
Both MLL are past security.
On the other topic... I've seen AC enforce a 4h check-in limit before. I had to leave my friend waiting in the YHZ lobby.
