Flight normally bypass security via a program termed "Known Crew Member". This program was started after much complaining by flight crew saying "We have a background check, you can trust us". According to a website dedicated to KCM random screening will be conducted.
Well yesterday a flight attendant selected for random screening ran from TSA screeners, and eventually dropped her bags. She was smuggling 70lbs of cocaine.
Jessica CHia of the
dailymail reports "Marshall McClain, president of the Los Angeles Airport Peace Officers Association estimated [the cocaine] was worth $2million."
McClaim also stated "'I don’t believe anybody would trust a mule with that amount of dope the first time out. 'You’re talking about $2 million worth of cocaine … that’s pretty troubling. This is more than likely not her first time doing this.'
