I agree with 99% of your post. However, SPG Plat members are not waited over like royalty.

There's so many of us and I have not once felt special by SPG other than some handwritten card by the Westin Edmonton for my 50th stay there in 2 years. Oh yeah and once I got a bottle of wine from the Westin Ottawa on a service recovery thing.

SPG has a great program, don't get me wrong, but if it comes down to Fairmont vs SPG, Fairmont wins. I don't even blink.
