Stayed here on points on Saturday night after a cruise. Everything in the area was waaaay expensive so we thought it was worth trying out the W after a nice stay at the Westin a few years back. Arrived around 10AM and gently asked at the desk if any rooms might be available, Jessie volunteered that they should have something for us in an hour, and we could store luggage and go to the pool (offered us a changing room) or go for a walk. Headed to the pool where the pool butlers were very helpful getting us two chaises with covers and towels and after 10 minutes my phone buzzed, a room was ready. 21st floor in the first tower (closer to the beach) with a southern exposure, amazing views to and beyond the cruise ships at the port. Big room with a big balcony -- I guess they are all like this (or better) but we definitely put this on our "Top 10 hotel rooms ever" list.
Hot tub was great (nice and hot with good jets), views from the room (and around the pool!) are eye-popping, and the staff was all great (Check in, manager when we went to get our room key -- he apologized for us having to hear him deal with a difficult, yelling guest at initial checkin, we told him he handled it beautifully, which he did), bellman, and as we entered our room a technician followed us in to change a lightbulb.
Only issue we had was turning on the bathroom light at night illuminates the whole room, which is unfriendly to sleeping spouses. Had a great dinner down the street at Casablanca Cafe, and appreciated a real person for a very early wakeup call. Cabs were parked downstairs at 5:30AM waiting for any guests who needed one.
