Thanks for the great tip - my kids love their buffet - I could get these GC for that too. Some hotels do not have buffet but bistro and expensive - others have but not available for award redemption - unsure if there are any other workaround?

Update:
The same place I booked w/ Marriott for 50k for 2 nights will cost $300 for 2 nights on Marriott site - redemming pts means, 42.7k on AMEX as opposed to 50k on Marriott - is the latter better for saving 7k on Marriott? Not sure if prices change with time?

Do we need to hand in the GC (electronic) at the time of check in?
