To answer the other part of your question, when you fly to the US on your return trip, you clear US customs that morning in the airport at YYZ, so you will need to get to the airport a bit earlier than usual to do that. (You will also have cleared Canadian customs upon arrival from PEK the night before.) But once you land at your US destination there are no further checks, it will be like you arrived on a domestic flight.
