Hello folks in the National forum.

I'm going to give National a try for a while after having reached the end of my tether with Avis's customer support and the state of Hertz's fleet.

Apologies for the noob question but I am just about to book my first National rental at YVR and then YYC a week later. I have signed up to the Emerald club but of course have no status yet.

I understand the 'book midsize and pick from the EA' idea, which I like the sound of very much. However, the rental rates I am looking at are virtually the same for a Premium car as they are for a midsize.

So my question is - am I going to get a better car in the Premium section than there would be available in the EA? If all that's available in the Premium section is an Impala, can I just take something else from EA instead?
