I agree with all the post but encourage you to try the subway, it's the most efficient cheapest way around Paris. Watch as you ANYWHERE in Europe for pickpockets make sure carry minimal and have your GF keep her purse close, real close. On subway watch out for Gypsy's.

Oh, yes. I meant to mention the Metro (and RER) also. We use it almost exclusively to get around unless out after it closes for the night. And get the Metro Paris Subway app (the one that by Presselite). You can plan your trip, get notifications, etc. on closures and delays. With that app and Google maps, I never carry a map anymore.
