The agent should not have downgraded you and she should not have moved you to a later flight. But there are bad agents out there, and every interaction raises the chances you will draw one. You want to minimize those interactions by not doing things like going to the cs desk to "improve" your itinerary. That's why most of us do as much as we can via the website and mobile app.
Agree. If I had bought a Y ticket and thanks to a missed connection I was given a F seat on a later flight, there is no way I'm going up to a CSR and ask about improving my itinerary.
