Sorry to pile on here, but how were you thinking you could improve on an F seat on the 9 am nonstop to SFO???

The agent should not have downgraded you and she should not have moved you to a later flight. But there are bad agents out there, and every interaction raises the chances you will draw one. You want to minimize those interactions by not doing things like going to the cs desk to "improve" your itinerary. That's why most of us do as much as we can via the website and mobile app.
