Shouldn't this be a part of standard training for hotel desk clerks? Of course it's not as blatantly stupid as the clerk who nce checked me into a professional convention meeting and chirped "We've been able to accomodate your request for a room adjoining with ..." before I shushed him. (That was in my wilder years.)

I fully agree. Front Desk personnel should be trained not to announce room number of any guest out loud. I would ask to speak to both the front desk supervisor and the hotel manager.
