I haven't had anyone broadcast my room number for some time, at least not in anything but a tiny B&B with no one else around. Sometimes they do say the floor, sometimes they don't. Not a big deal to me, but I certainly agree it should be standard practice not to broadcast the room number most anywhere by now.
