Most times for me, they'll put the key into the little "folder" and show the room number they have written, but even then, most times they will still say, "Ms. KSAN, your room is on the 10th floor, and then show me the room number they've written down.....I even hate that. I don't want anyone to even know what floor I'm on. I've been in hotels before (nice ones, too)where I've gotten prank phone calls and the person was calling all the rooms on that floor ( b/c I called security and they told me the loser was calling every room on that floor and it was someone inside the hotel making the calls - it really creeped me out.)

I guess we just have to keep speaking up and letting the desk clerk know that it's not acceptable to broadcast your room (or floor) number.
