Thanks for this. I agree with you about SPG and Fairmont and my experiences with them in the past year or so have certainly included a very strong element of loyalty from them to me and me to them. They offer decent or great rewards, some of which also include creative incentives for me to spend a bit more with them, or extend my stay, or even the fun SPG Keyless. Fairmont upgrade certs etc have led to some excellent stays.
Also, when there were hiccups (not often, but they are in the service business), I have found them both responsive and more often, proactive in resolution.
One purpose of my thread/post was to elicit the emotional/theoretical types of responses, not so much the details of one's personal status metrics (which exist in a number of other threads).

I think SPG is the best program out there. The only hiccups I find are from individual hotels, like the Westin Calgary. These hotels do nothing for you, but SPG is very proactive in solving problems the best they can.
