Brian Sumer's blog indicated the announcement of the new J seat will be made shortly. (This was almost two months ago.) Upper management said the new seat would be "better" than the one they just canned. Due to this management's previous relationship with B/E Aerospace, (they have the contract for the new seats on LUS aircraft, W when its launched, and the B/E Super Diamond seat was originally selected for the A350), if B/E Aerospace can deliver the B/E Super Diamond on time, which is a big ask as we know with the disaster with Zodiac, then I'd say its the seat they've chosen. (QR has this seat installed on its 788s and A350-900s.)
We should hear an announcement soon, especially since the first 787-9 with the new J seat and W factory installed, is scheduled for delivery in six months. According to Sumers, the announcement will also coincide with the announcement of the long overdue 75L CIP, which its very likely AA will chose the same B/E Aerospace seat they installed on the A321T.
