in principle, I agree with virtually all you wrote. Frankly, this is relationship management 101.
EP gets a free drink/food item on all economy flights as far as I know. I've been offered one on every Flight I have taken. I've also been able to make same-day changes and not pay change fees.
Unfortunately, New York George is right, they don't because they don't have to.
