I’m on a very tight budget so the Miyajima ropeway is too expensive for me to take, I’m stuck with having to hike. I was thinking of taking the Daisho-in Trail up (that way I can start the day at Daishô-in which will most likely be full of people later during the day) and the Momijidani Trail down (I can end in Momijidani Park and take a rest there before seeing the rest of Miyajima). In Miyajima I will probably be doing this craft session which I think will take up a bit of time.
Keep in mind the museums on Miyajima have relatively short hours (8:30-4:30, I think?), and the shops also close up pretty early. If you start your hike at 7 a.m. you should have plenty of time, though. You may also want to check the tide tables for the day in advance, so you can time other island activities in such a way that you get to view (or walk out to) the torii at high or low tide.
Also, for what it's worth, I spent half a day in the Peace Park and felt very rushed. I would have liked more time.
