I've stayed a couple times at the Mandala right in Potsdamer Platz, which is an excellent central location close to transit (although Times Square-ish for better or worse). It's not full-service luxury but the rooms are large and well-done in a minimalist style, and the rates are very reasonable (EUR 200-250/night for a suite).
Itīs a relative new hotel and I was shocked about the bathrooms. Not even really 4 star level. Even the Superior-Executive Suite is in fact a Junior Suite. If it mustnīt be luxury in this part of the town I would take the Grand Hyatt.
