My experience traveling on the A330 or 777 ATL-LAX is that folks with FCM tickets will SDC onto those flights. I have watched them go from F9 or higher the night before to F0 several hours out. RUCs didn't matter as there were no seats to be had and no upgrade inventory before it went to the gate.

If OP wants to ride up front, probably SDC to a different flight. If it were me and I had a good comfort+ seat, I would just enjoy that.
