I am always skeptical when a FT'ers first post is a rant about a travel provider. Usually they are never heard from again.

Expecting 40K points after already getting a free dinner for multiple people ("we") sounds rich to me.

If having free dinner as part of their service recovery did not sound good to the OP then he/she should have stood off the front desk staff then.
