Sometimes agents have no clue and make up an excuse for things. Just the way the world works.
BA agent told me herself... I had no reason to question it. Price went up massive from Thursday to Friday and she said it was the reason.

You are incorrect. If you look this up on the AA website for a simple JFK-MIA ticket in Y, as OW Emerald, you will see that there is a waiver for the first three bags. There is similarly a waiver for the first three bags if ticketed in F. As a OWE in F, the waiver is 3 bags either way.
I didnt say first I just bought a Choice Essential fare for 1 luggage and one more from my OneWorld privilege but it doesnt apply for Domestic routes so in the end I upgraded myself to First. But my overall cost is more than it was originally planned due to this stopover issue. If true.
