Very Long flight (16 hrs) JFK to HKG: Chase Daylight (or) Night?
Planning to fly from JFK to HongKong next Jan (HKG stopover for 3 days before a trip to Southeast Asia). Planning on flying premium economy either way on Cathay Pacific (as economy on 16 hours flight sounds brutal).
Seems like there are 2 options:
Flight at 1AM that reaches HKG at 6AM and essentially fly 16 hours dark
(or)
Flight at 9AM that reaches HKG at 2PM and essentially fly 16 hours in daylight
Just wanted to see if anyone has taken these flights and experience.
And, for what it's worth, we typically fly overnight to Europe (8hrs) and spend the whole day sightseeing (without a afternoon nap) which seems to help combat jet lag.
Thanks in advance.
P.S: On the way back, there's a 7 hour layover in HKG. Anyone have suggestions? Lounge?
