AA first class gets 3 bags at 70lbs each. Your BA Gold baggage allowance isn't any greater than that. Both AA and BA will check through to separate itineraries on the other. AA will even protect on separate tickets as long as they are all AA or oneworld. There is no need to book this as one ticket.
This is true, however, in 2 tickets it became more expensive for me as in one big ticket without stopover fee as in previous years. However, still cheaper than paying that extra 600 EUR fee. I was told it was really introduced 2 weeks ago at BA as some travel agencies abused this option somehow.
