GLA Flight Loads - Upgrade To F Using Miles. Experiences?

Hi All

A question for the more seasoned EK travellers. I have a GLA-DXB-PEK return coming up at the end of the month. The outbound will give me enough Skywards Miles to upgrade one of the legs on my return journey to First.

When checking in MMB, currently only the PEK-DXB is available (as is the DXB-PEK on the outbound) with no current availability on either GLA leg.

Although I didn't have enough miles on my last journey, I still had a look and had the PEK-DXB availability but not for the GLA flight. As it currently stands, the GLA legs cost less miles to upgrade.

I am not doing the return till July 1st ex PEK. The miles will be banked fairly quickly after my outbound. Both flights are roughly the same flight length so what would be the best way to play this? If still the availability PEK-DXB would I be better snagging that or wait it out to see if the DXB-GLA leg opens up?

Am I right in assuming that any extra baggage allowance for travelling First would not carry over to my next flight and that I wouldn't have F lounge access in DXB although arriving in F but departing in J?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Safe & Happy Travels
