Does anyone know if United is having other than the usual tech problems today? Also, thought it was a little odd that I got offshore agents both times when calling just before noon.
I'm having normal interactions with .com today.

Depending on which countries you're flying to/through in Asia the passport inspection on check in may be legit. There are some places where OLCI won't work because of heightened immigration/visa requirements that they want agents to verify in person.
