That has been my experience on my last few 32B flights as well. Glad they got that worked out - it was weird that US allowed it but AA didn't in the early 2-class 32B days.
Also last night, instead of the FAs giving the safety briefing motions for the exit rows, they popped out the swing-out IFE screens.
