Mercure Hotel Atrium Braunschweig
Introduction Summary. All in all, a very pleasant surprise. I have been let down by Mercures in general and this one was a pleasant and fine stay. If I visit Braunschweig again, I'll book this hotel once more.Breakfast. The breakfast was very nice for a Mercure with lots of choices and quality ingredients. What was particularly noticeable was the proactive attitude of the servers who recognize patrons, remember what they had the day before. I have been in better and more expensive hotels withconsiderably worse breakfast.Housekeeping. Room was not cleaned on the first day. I didn't mind that much and didn't complain. The other days there were no problems.Room. The room was fine once that you get used to the small bed. As usual in Accor hotels,no iron and ironing board in the room, but available on request. I find this rather annoying, but since I arrived at lunch time, I could request it immediately and it was delivered by theevening.Lunch. On the first floor, the hotel has some conference rooms and a little restaurant(in addition to the breakfast room). The restaurant had very few vegetarian dishes; I negotiateda vegetarian version of the Caesar salad which was a bit odd (drowned in dressing that wasn't even the standard Caesar salad dressing), but OK.Check-in. I arrived around lunch time and got my room immediately. Free apples at the reception.I had booked a single room and received a single room (with just a small bed for one person).Building. The hotel building itself is incredibly ugly and depressing.Location & Arrival. The location is extremely convenient if you arrive by train: from CentralStation, it's literally just across the street; you can see the hotel from the main exit ofCentral Station. Unfortunately, Central Station is not so central in Braunschweig, not even forthe public transport system. Still, there are enough trams and buses leaving from Central Stationthat everything is rather reachable from the hotel.Four night paid stay without Accor status.
