I drove by the JW Marriott on my way out to the mountains (I also considered staying there that's why I noticed it) and I can tell you it is far from the area I would recommend for visitors. The area near the Hilton is very convenient to the French Quarter and the nearby lake (Ho Hoan Kiem).
What did you want to do in Hanoi?
I've got a two half days and one full day. I've arranged a private tour for the full day, and figured I'd walk around the French Quarter the first half day (afternoon/evening) and decide later on what to do the morning before heading to the airport. Any suggestions?
Thanks for the hotel advice. Despite my wanting to stay at the more luxurious hotel, the HG Inn seems to make sense given the location. I don't have enough HH points to stay both days on points, but I may do one on points, one on cash.
