I would report both flight attendants. This is one of my biggest pet peeves, passengers need to just follow the damn rules. They can suck it up and tolerate not reclining for 10-15 mins for takeoff and again for landing.

I'm honestly shocked that the FA would give that type of response! It's no sweat off their back to ask the pax to please bring their seat forward.
