About two years ago, I also had a cracked windshield renting from Enterprise at SLC (rock hit the windshield a mile from the airport and it sprouted into a full windshield crack later that day). They filled out an incident report on their tablet when I returned it (allow 15 minutes extra for that). I also called Visa beforehand since my card offers $500 protection like most cards do. It was a little convoluted, but once I got the ball rolling, Visa and Enterprise worked things out between themselves and I didn't have to pay a thing. A windshield replacement shouldn't exceed the $500 coverage.
