Chicago to Hong Kong is quite a way from the North Pole. Closer is the Continental 777 service Newark to Hong Kong.

German airline Condor flies 767s Frankfurt to Anchorage, and gets as close to the Pole.

Emirates anounced last year they would be starting Dubai to Los Angeles with A340-500s. That would route overhead the Pole as well, but the route seems to have been temporarily put on ice (dreadful pun!).

Notably all three routes cross The Pole going in completely different directions. I'm not quite sure how to describe them as they all approach from the south of course and leave heading south as well.

I've never done the pole itself but as it is just flat ice, the view is probably not too enthralling. On a flight from California to Europe that routes quite high, up over Baffin Island, the mountains there are truly spectacular.

If you get a video/DVD of Michael Palin's TV series "Pole to Pole" he actually took a Bradley Air Services Twin Otter to the North Pole and landed there. Afraid your trip won't be as spectacular.
