The U.S. airport PFCs range between $3 and $4.50 and are charged for each departure point (including connecting flights). Some airports do not charge any PFCs (like CLT), while some airlines (like NW) absorb the cost of the PFCs of their hubs when connecting to pass on the savings to the customer. At any rate, it's still a bargain compared to the high AIFs charged by Canadian airports.
