That said, it's easy enough to get the passport verified in advance (kiosk, skyclub, etc) why not just do that? There's usually some spare time before boarding anyway.
agreed -- that's what I always used to do, but recently they don't seem to have to back to the computer.
Also, JFK T4 Skyclub has no kiosks -- very bizarre. You have to ask the agent to do it and they usually look at you weird
