Off topic, but when I moved to Japan, I flew Y with UA (awful). One of my two bags was overweight, so they told me it would be cheaper to pay for a third bag (I had a spare duffel with me) than to pay the overweight fee. There ended up being a snafu and I had a 24 hour delay. I checked in online for the second time, and was able to check a fourth bag for free. I was very pleased with myself, but the gate agent gave me a mouthful when I asked her to check that the bags I had left overnight were being loaded on to the plane. "Why do you need four bags?" she said. I told her it was none of her business
A few years later I moved to the UK, and posted a few boxes to myself via USPS. They arrived but were slightly damaged, so I was able to successfully apply for a refund of the hundreds of dollars I paid in postage.
